National Donut Day at Your Condo

National Donut Day is June 3rd, and you know what that means: FREE DONUTS.


To celebrate National Donut Day, eat your favorite doughnut. There are several other doughnut kinds available! Whether you love glazed or creme-filled doughnuts, holes, or any other freshly baked doughnut, get out there and support your local bakers. Pick up a dozen to donate to first responders, a nursing home, or a favorite charity. Use the hashtags #NationalDonutDay or #NationalDoughnutDay when posting on social media.


However, if you don't want to go out into the street for a free treat or don't have time to wait in line at your neighborhood donut shop, you can still bake your own tasty doughnuts with your kids in the comfort of your own house.


They're the ideal dish to make with your kids because they're simple to prepare and a lot of fun!

It's not difficult to discover a homemade donut recipe; simply search the internet. In truth, there are numerous dishes that are simple enough for children to prepare.


You may always try baking handmade doughnuts from scratch if you want something more challenging! The kids will learn how food is prepared and will have a hands-on culinary experience at home.

Here's a recipe for handcrafted donuts that you can make with your kids:


Ingredients

-280ml milk

a quarter cup of caster sugar

-2 1/4 teaspoon yeast, dry

2 big beaten eggs

-melted 150g unsalted butter

-4 cups all-purpose flour

-1/4 tsp salt

-Vegetable or canola oil


Method

-To begin, we'll need to activate our yeast. Microwave the milk for 30 seconds at a time until it is warm but not hot. After adding the sugar and yeast, let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes. It has activated when the yeast is bubbling and foaming on top.

-In a small dish, mix together the eggs and melted butter, then whisk together the flour and salt in a separate bowl. Pour the egg mixture into the dough hook-equipped bowl of your stand mixer, then add the yeast mixture and whisk to combine everything.

-While the dough hook is running on low to medium speed, add the flour cup by cup to the dough hook.

-Knead for five minutes, then scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl to make sure all flour and ingredients are dispersed equally.

-Mix for another 5 minutes, then remove from stand and put aside for another 10 minutes.

-Cover with plastic wrap and lay aside in an oiled basin for 8 hours or overnight in the fridge.

-Depending on the size of your doughnuts, cut circles first, then holes. Place the doughnuts on floured baking pans and let them prove for approximately an hour; they should puff up by around 25-40%.

-Bring the oil to a boil before cooking the doughnuts on a medium heat setting. With a slotted spoon, drop the doughnuts into the oil. 30 seconds per side, or until medium brown. Drain fully on a dish lined with paper towels after removing with a slotted spoon from the oil.

-In a mixing dish, add 3/4 cup white sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon powder to make cinnamon doughnuts. Place on a baking sheet.

-To make glazed doughnuts, combine 2 tablespoons milk, 12 teaspoons vanilla extract, and 1 cup icing sugar in a small saucepan and boil over low heat. After dissolving the sugar, bring it to a mild boil. Remove doughnuts from heat and place on wire racks with baking paper below to catch drips.then repeat on the other side. There are about 15 doughnuts covered.

-To make iced strawberry doughnuts, mix 1 cup sifted icing mixture with 2 drops strawberry essence, 2 drops pink/rose food coloring, and 1 tbs water. Blend until smooth with a fork. Spread on doughnut and sprinkle on top if wanted!
